Harmonic Armatures

A 14-line harmonic armature provides an invisible framework that helps organize a composition so the viewer’s eye moves naturally and comfortably.

Rather than forcing a single path, it creates multiple visual currents at once — lines, curves, and shapes that interact to produce balance and rhythm.

These are simultaneous not linear.

This network of relationships guides attention to important elements while keeping the overall composition harmonious and engaging.

As a demonstration for one of my graphic design courses at Montgomery College, I reverse-engineered a combination of the well known and unknown across media types, studying how designers, photographers, painters, illustrators, architects, film directors, game designers, interior designers & others laid out their compositions.
